A Marvel of the Qutub Shahi Legacy

It was built during the reign Of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah as an ode to his favourite courtesan Taramati. TaramatiBaradari is a part of Ibrahim Bagh, a Persian style garden built during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah, the second Sultan of Golconda. The historic Pavilion of TaramatiBaradari has 12 doorways. It was built by the rulers of the Golconda Dynasty on the banks of Musi River. The Qutub Shahi rulers controlled Hyderabad for about 200 hundred years in the medieval period.
Taramati Baradari is an attractive destination of yore in Hyderabad. History attributes the name to the reign of the Seventh Sultan of Golconda, Abdullah Qutub Shah who as an ode to his favourite courtesan, Taramati, is believed to have named the sarai as Taramati Baradari.
According to Legend, king Abdullah Qutb Shah was quite fond of hearing Taramati’s voice as she sang for travellers at the sarai, while he was seated two kilometres away at Golconda fort. It is said that the King was impressed very much by her melodious voice which was carried by the breeze. The royal look of the monument, takes us to a nostalgic era of Hyderabad, where dance and music were patronized in quiet evenings, by the rulers of dynasties.
