Sankranti is a grand festival of harvest celebrated in India. which usually falls on the 14th of January every year. It is a three-day festival. The first day of this festive season is 'Bhogi', while the second day is 'Makara Sankranti' and the third and last day is called 'Kanumu'. The festival is celebrated in several ways based on the local customs, in many parts of the country, since it is a harvest festival where farmers offer their prayers to god for a good harvest.
Sankranti is called 'Pongal' in the state of Tamilnadu. In Rajasthan and Gujarat, people offer thousands of colorful oblations in the form of beautiful kites. Likewise, in the state of Telangana, Kite flying is associated with this harvest festival in a big way.

5th Telangana International Kite Festival 2020
Kite flying is a means of fun and entertainment and it also reflects our culture and traditions that has been carried forward since generations. The 5th Telangana International Kite Festival 2020 is being organized with great fanfare in January, 2020. The success of Kite Festivals, organized from 2016 to 2019, has brought a new identity to the tradition of Kite flying. Now, Hyderabad is again all set to host the Kites Festival from January 13-15th, 2020 with enthusiastic participation from many national and international flying clubs.
The International Kite Festival in Hyderabad, will be attracting flying clubs and visitors from many international destinations.
