Telangana region which is known for its range of tourist destinations is also home to many heritage structures and one of them is the Golconda fort. Golconda fort, dating back to several centuries is located nearly 8 km away from Mehdipatnam in Hyderabad.

Hyderabad is considered to be one among the best heritage cities of India. Golconda Fort had once flourished as the capital of the Golconda Kingdom. The walls of the fort range from 17 to 34 feet marked by 87 semi-circular bastions, some of them reaching 60 feet in height. The fort which has been built on a granite hill 400 feet high is one of India’s magnificent fortress complexes.

Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) organizes regular sound and light shows at the amazing Golconda fort. The impressive and popular sound & light show at Golconda fort shows the grand history of the rulers of various dynasties. Here the colourful laser lighting system, along with an excellent sound track is considered as the highlight of the show.

The Sound and Light Show at the Golconda Fort attracts a large number of tourists who witness the events showing the past of the fort using by means of sound and light effects. The show here is presented for the audience in three languages namely English, Hindi and Telugu. The sound and light show at Golconda Fort which is scheduled for a duration of hour, is held on all days except Monday. The show timings are 7:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M in summer season and in winter season the timings are 6:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M. The entry fee is Rs. 40 per head.
