Shiva Lingam, Consecrated by Lord Brahma!
Telangana region is dotted with numerous historic temples and the region is known for numerous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Ketaki Sangameshwara Swamy is one of the old Shiva temples located in Jharasangam village and mandal, Sangareddy district.
It is said that the Shiva lingam in this temple was consecrated by "Lord Bramha ". According to legend, the king of Surya Vamsha, Raja Kupendra during "kruthayuga" suffered from a skin disease for which there was no remedy then.
One day while in the forest for hunting, he reached KetakiVanam where he found a stream and washed his body, and he was surprised to see that his body was cleansed. It is said that the same night Lord Shiva appeared in his dream and ordered the king to construct a sanctum sanctorumon the Shiva lingam. Raja Kupendra constructed a temple and dedicated it to Lord Shiva as a mark of his gratitude.
The Pushkarni (holy pond) came to be known as "asthatheerthaamruthagundam" and the historic temple is called as "Dakshina Kasi". Here, Gundampooja is performed by Hindu devotees from Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana due to its religious and historical importance and after the holy bath, thedevotees pay homage to the Lord Shiva.
According to the Hindu Mythology it is believed that Brahma came to this propitious spot for meditation after the creation of world. The present linga was installed by Brahmaand even to this day, the pooja's are being performed by Ketaki flowers (Ketaki flowers are generally not used for pooja's) while the water of the holy stream was converted by the King into pushkarni consisting of 8 theerthas (narayana, dharma rushi, varuna, soma, rudra, indira, and datha). Here Lord Shiva is also called as Ketaki Sangameshwara and worshipped with great devotion.

Sri Ketaki Sangameshwara Swamy Temple is located in Jharasangam village at a distance of nearly 5 km from Zaheerabad town in Sangareddy district of Telangana. The temple is well-accessible by road transport.
