Telangana, India's youngest state witnessed the culmination of decades long struggle for separate statehood. June 2nd 2014 is a day etched in history as the moment which marked a golden era.

Today as one of India's dynamic and progressive States, the region is a shining jewel of the Deccan plateau. With a rich history, culture, traditions and customs, the state is unique as well as a hub of diverse religions, nationalities and culture.

June 2nd 2016 marks the second anniversary of Telangana formation and the stage is set for grand celebrations it shows how the state has made impressive strides in every sphere.

It is also the time to reflect on the struggles which was taken up by prominent leaders of the region, first in the year 1969 against failed assurances following merger of Telugu speaking region of Nizam state with Andhra state. Once again a series of assurances were given that was slowly watered down in United AP.

This led to revival of the separate statehood movement slowly in 1996 followed by formation of TRS party by Sri K Chandrasekhar Rao in 2001. After many challenges, the national political leadership agreed for formation of Telangana in 2013. Subsequently The Indian parliament passed the bill for Telangana formation in February 2014.

The spate of student suicides, and numerous other sacrifices were instrumental in the statehood movement. In this regard the fast unto death by Sri KCR in 2009 was a watershed movement that galvanized the people like never before.

Today it is also an opportunity to look back at how Telangana Tourism has contributed for the overall growth of the state. The government is organising pompous fireworks and already the landmark structures of Hyderabad and rest of the state have been decorated in bright illumination.

The day is also the right time to reflect upon the vision of the state that envisages an era of prosperity, equality, jobs, welfare schemes, that will satisfy the aspirations of the millions. In this regard, Telangana Tourism has moved towards the digital era by embracing a great transition with presence in social media, a dynamic website and many more initiatives.

On this day as the common man of Telangana celebrates the momentous occasion, Telangana Tourism rededicates itself to the growth of the region in future by crossing one milestone after the other in the grand quest towards Bangaru Telangana.
