A rejuvenating way for experiencing a pleasurable journey, organized by Telangana Tourism, Basara tour is sacred trip, which covers spectacular temples like Dichpally Ramalayam, Laxminarasimha Swamy Temple, Raghunathalayam, Kalabairava Temple in Nizamabad district and Basara Saraswathi Temple in Adilabad district. The trip organized every Saturday by means of a Non A/c Coach is for a duration of two days.
Constructed in the 14th century the Dichpally Ramalayam, also called the Khilla Ramayanam is one of the oldest temples in Nizamabad. The temple is dedicated to Lord Rama and was built by Kakatiya kings. Due to much resemblance in its style and structure, it is also called the Indhoor Khajuraho or the Khajuraho of Nizamabad. Dichpally Ramalayam temple is one of the finest examples of the ancient stone architecture.
The tour then takes you to the prominent Laxmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Janakampet village, about 10 km from Nizamabad, which hosts the revered lord Narasimha swamy. It was constructed by Samarth Ramdas the guru of the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji during the 18th Century. Raghunathalyam, also called as Quilla, with its impressive walls represents the influence of Islamic architecture and the jail structures of the fort also form part of the temple. The temple has been enhanced with a waterfall and greenery developed by the temple committee.Sri Kalabhairava Swamy Temple is situated in Isannapalli (Ramareddy) Village, in Nizamabad district of North Telangana region. Bhairava also know as Kala Bhairava, is a Hindu deity, considered as a fierce manifestation of Shiva associated with the force of annihilation and is considered sacred to Hindus, Buddhists as well as Jains alike.This is considered next only one to the Kasi-Kshetra. The temple is known widely for the mystic experiences and the fulfilled desires of the innumerable devotees who visit this revered shrine and worship the deity here.
Gnana Saraswathi at Basar, on the banks of Godavari River is located very close to Maharashtra border in the North Telangana region. This temple is a divine abode of Goddess Saraswathi, Goddess Lakshmi and Kali, considered as the Holy Trinity. The place derives its name from Vyasa and hence called Vasar or Basar (Basara in local dialect). It is believed to be among the three temples built near the holy confluence of the Manjira and Godavari Rivers by the Ashtrakutas. Basar is a popular temple for performing “Akshara Abhyasam” where children take part in a ceremonial event before the start of formal school education.
