The village

Historically, the village is the venue where Vinoba Bhave started Bhoodan movement to appeal people with large tracts of land to contribute to the landless. It is a model village and comes within the purview of rural tourism, government of Telangana.
Cottage industry
Pochampally is a cluster of several villages in the district of Nalgonda. People skilled in using colours and threads in traditional looms to create beautiful sarees and dress material reside here. Today, it is a cottage industry centre. Pochamppally sarees are seldom unknown to anyone because of their elegant fine art.
The typical style of Pochampally fabric is ikkat, which means tie and dye weave. The cloth material is unique such that the design and colour is transferred to the warp and are weaved. Significantly, the Pochampally saree was awarded geographical indication (GI) status in 2005.
