Godavari Pushkaralu
Welcome to Godavari Maha Pushkaralu 2015. It is that time of the year when one of the 12 most spiritual rivers of India are worshipped. The river is chosen based on the positioning of the planet Jupiter on the Zodiac signs and 2015 is the year when the river Godavari goes through this celestial phase.
Godavari Maha Pushkaralu is being organized on a large scale for the first time in the newly formed state of Telangana. The Maha Pushkaralu which starts from 14th July 2015, is also called as 'Maha Kumbhamela' since it comes once every 144 years. The Maha Pushkaralu is for a period of 14 days and ends on 25th July 2015.
Several ghats have been developed in Telangana region on the banks of Godavari River for the devotees to take a holy bath. The river enters Telangana at Kandukurthi in Nizamabad and then flows through Adilabad, Karimnagar and Khammam districts.
Immerse in the holy waters of river Godavari at four prominent temple towns in Telangana- Basara, Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram and Bhadrachalam along with numerous other ghats which are developed all along the course of the river. Pushakralu is also the time for one to fulfill divine vows and duties towards their ancestors during the astronomically significant period for Godavari River, which marks the
conjunction of ‘Brihaspati’ i.e. Jupiter entering into ‘Simha rasi’.
