Ramappa Temple

The district derives its name Kamareddy from the ruler of Domakonda Fort Chinna Kamireddy, who ruled this area during AD 1600 to 1640. There are several religious and heritage sites in and around Kamareddy, dating back to time immemorial. Domakonda Fort is located in Domakonda village of Kamareddy district, Telangana. It was built during 18th Century, which is one of the important religious as well as tourist attractions. Domakonda Fort chronicles the momentous past of the city. You can get a glimpse of the city’s historical and cultural heritage situated within the city.

The district has a few prehistoric sites. The existence of a fairly developed megalithic culture has been discovered at Yellareddy, and Kamareddy. Some of the major dynasties which extended their rule to the district include the Mauryas, Satavahanas, Rastrakutas and Chalukyas during the ancient period, the Kakatiyas, Bahmani Sultanate, Qutub Shahis, and Bidar Sultanate during the medieval period, and the Mughals and Asaf Jahis during the modern period.

POCHARAM PROJECT

Pocharam project is an existing Medium Irrigation Project constructed across Alair stream near Pocharam (V), Nagireddypet (M) in Kamareddy District. The Project is located at a distance of 20 km from Medak. The project work was Constructed in the year 1922 across Alair River near Pocharam village and it is a popular and picturesque tourist attraction.

NIZAMSAGAR PROJECT

Nizamsagar Project was constructed by the Nizam during 1923-31 to provide irrigation to 2.75 lakh acres in combined Nizambad District. It is a well-known tourist destination especially when copious inflows brim the reservoir in monsoon season.
