Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district was once part of the Nalgonda district before the re-organization of districts in the state. The Bhuvanagiri District is associated with its fort which was built on an isolated rock. It is believed that the western Chalukya ruler Tribuvanamalla Vikramadithya – VI got the fort at this place constructed which was named after him as Tribhuvanagiri. The name subsequently became Bhuvanagiri and Bhongir. The fort is associated with the rule of the Kakatiya queen Rudramadevi and her Grandson Prataparudhra.
Yadagirigutta
Yadagirigutta is a unique and pleasant place that enjoys a harmonious climate in all seasons. The place is visited by thousands of pilgrims every day.
According to the Hindu scriptures or Puranas of the Third Age, there was a sage named Yadarshi, who was the son of the great sage Sri Rishyasringa Maharshi and Santa Devi. He meditated inside the cave with the gaze of Sri Anjaneya Swami. Sri Narasimha Swami appeared before him, pleased with his devotion. The Swami himself manifested himself in five different forms as Sri Jwala Narasimha, Sri Gandabherunda, Sri Yogananda, Sri Ugra and Sri Lakshminarasimha after Swami and is therefore worshiped as the Pancharama Narasimha Kshetra.
Kolanupaka Temple
Kolanupaka Temple is a Jain shrine at the village of Kolanupaka in Yadadri district, Telangana. The temple houses three idols: one each of Lord Rishabha, Lord Neminath, and Lord Mahaveer. The temple is about 77 km from Hyderabad on the Hyderabad-Warangal Highway. The Kolanupaka Temple is said to be more than two thousand years old. In its present form, it is more than eight hundred years old. It is believed that Jainism was prevalent in Telangana before the 4th century, and Kolanupaka was one of the prominent centres of Jainism from early times. Lord Rishabha, popularly called Adinath Bhagvan, was the first Tirthankars in the Jain religion. It is believed that the original idol of Lord Adinath, known locally as Manikya Deva, has made Kolanupaka its abode.
There are eight idols of the other Tirthankars on both the sides of the main temple. The statue of Lord Mahaveer is 130 centimetres (51 in) tall and is said to be made of a single piece of jade. Idols of Lord Simandar Swami and Mata Padmavati are installed on either side of the main temple. Kulpakji is an important pilgrimage center for Svetambara Jains of South India.
Sri Matsyagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple
Devotees consider this temple to be the hill on which Vishnu is worshiped in the form of a fish. The temple is located amidst the cascading waterfalls in the lap of cold nature. Devotees worship Lord Lakshminarasimha on Matsya Giri Hill in the village of Venkatapuram, Valigonda Mandal. Formerly known as Vyomulu, it is believed that the sages climbed the Matsya Giri hill in search of a quiet place. Ugranarasimha killed Hiranyakashapa while the evil spirits were interfering with their penance. Before the Abhishek Puja Tirtha, the pilgrims go to the pool to see Swami Matsyavataram in the form of a fish. It is also known as Vemulakonda.
Bhuvanagiri Fort
Bhuvanagiri Fort is an ancient monument built on a monolithic rock fortress, about 47 km from the city of Hyderabad. The hill is 610 meters high and is the tallest mountain in Telangana. The mountain is an oval monolithic mountain and from the south it looks like a tortoise and a sleeping elephant from the west. The Bhuvanagiri Fort stands as a testimony to the history of Telangana state, which is the epitome of many battles. This magnificent fort, which dates back nearly 3000 years, is home to many astonishing structures.
Bhuvanagiri Fort is one of the most prominent places in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. Bhuvanagiri Fort was a long time ruled by Qutub Shahi. Historians claim that the coins of the Vishnu Kundi period were found here. Bhuvanagiri Fort is the first steel gateway. It is said that the Nizam built it at his own expense. The entrance resembles that of Fateh Darwaza, the first gate of Balahisar in Golconda Fort. Tall walls and spacious rooms are visible in the architecture of Islamic culture. The inner courtyards of the fort include horseshoes, granaries and military houses. There is a Shiva temple on the hill of Bhuvanagiri, a statue of the black Nandi, Someshwara, Bammadevara temple and a monastery under the hill.
Surendrapuri
The Surendrapuri Hanumadeswarar Temple located near Yadagirigutta is a must visit place. Kunda Satyanarayana Kaladhamaya is a Hindu temple art exhibition temple. The scenes in the epics of Mahabharata and Bhagavatam are impressive. The temple has a huge statue of Lord Shiva. Here are the prototypes of major temples around the country. The Mirror Mandap in the temple premises and the Shiva Temple on the top of the hill are definitely worth a visit. It takes around two hours to explore the place.
