The Maheshwaram temple is located at a distance of about 50 Kilometers from Secunderabad. The holy shrine falls on the way to the holy town Srisailam from Hyderabad. This renowned Shiva temple is believed to be 350 years old.
This temple is built on the pushkarani which is known as Shiva Ganga. It has a big holy bath with a few steps leading down under the water, and one can see sixteen small sanctums built around the pushkarani. The small temples have little Shiva lingams in them. These lingas are shodasa lingas around main Goddess.
Near the temple, one can notice three main trees at one place and a Ganesha idol in a small sanctum. As we enter into a hall we can find a path leading to the main sanctum and there are a few steps to the side, which lead down to the pushkarani. This temple is built in two floors. After taking a dip in the holy pushkarani, we then enter into a hall for the darshan of Goddess Sri Raja Rajeswari. In front of her temple we find lion sculpture.
