The history of Telangana Region is marked with bravery and sumptuousness. Marking a great significance to the splendor are the many forts of this region. Each and every fort is unique in its own way and forms an important part of the country's never ending glory. One such marvel is the Jagtial Fort in the Jagtial town in the Karimnagar district. The Jagtial fort can be called the shining star on the map of Karimnagar Tourism. The establishment of the beautiful fort dates back to the 17th century. It is believed that two European engineers Tal and Jack conceptualized and built this amazing star shaped fort which is surrounded by water. And an interesting thing about this fort is that it got its name after these two engineers, Jag-jack and Tial-Tal. Standing out as the structure built by foreign builders, every inch of this unique fort bears a strong similarity to a European castle. Though most of this fort is now in ruins; its uniqueness still makes it an interesting site, attracting scores of visitors.
The construction materials that were used to build this fort were mainly lime and stones. A huge wooden gate guarded the fort. However, the gate is long gone due to ravages of man and nature.. However, tourists may not be disappointed as the fort still recalls its days of glory with the huge cannons that are scattered throughout the premises.
